From Despair to Hope

Probably everyone has felt despair at some time in his or her life. I have felt despair at ever overcoming my binge eating. Despair felt like a dark hole in my stomach. I felt hopeless. I was thinking, "I can't get over this problem;" "It will be this way forever;" "All I do is fail." I was fortunate to finally overcome the bingeing but it took years of trying. Using Emotional Freedom Techniques to eliminate these kinds of despairing thoughts is a quick and effective way to move my clients toward hope. One weight release client wrote, "When I came to you I was a 2 or 3 hopeful and now I'm a 6 or 7" (on a 10 point scale, 10 being the most hopeful). Measuring her hope with numbers helped us both see we were on the right track. Sometimes hope falters, especially after a bad eating episode. But we use EFT again and again to get back on track and keep the shining light of hope burning brightly, illuminating the path to weight release success.

"You're psychologically reversed." "I'm what??"

"Psychologically reversed" may sound like a dreaded condition. But it's really the EFT way to say a person is subconsciously resistant to change. Stress subconsciously. Everyone is resistant, or "reversed," some of the time for something. If I, your weight release coach, asked you, "Do you want to release your excess weight?" you would look at me as if I were stupid. Of course you want to release your excess weight! But if you subconsciously don't feel that it's safe to release that weight for fear you would attract male attention, you are resistant to releasing that weight. If you feel you don't deserve to release the weight for whatever reason, you are reversed. If you are afraid to release the weight because your family would complain and sabotage your efforts, then you are reversed. If you don't think it's possible to release the weight, you are reversed. And these are only 4 of many subconscious blocks to your weight release success. No wonder you've failed so many times! So the key to your weight release success is getting rid of your subconscious resistances to change--or your psychological reversals. Fortunately, the wonderful tool of EFT has a built in component specifically designed to eliminate reversals. This is the secret to weight release success that is not understood by most of the weight loss industry. And those that do recognize the need to change a person's thoughts and feelings don't have the most effective tool out there. Let me show you how you can quickly and easily move past your blocks to weight release success.

What's harder than losing weight?

What's harder than losing weight? Maintaining your weight loss. You knew that, didn't you? Have you regained lost weight, maybe many times? Why? You're probably an otherwise successful person. Why do you fail at this seemingly simple project?
Simple but not easy, the saying goes. And one big reason is because you couldn't wait to finish the diet and return to your more comfortable ways of eating. Yes, you felt deprived. Feeling deprived is like feeling sorry for yourself. "Everyone else is eating that. Why can't I?"you told yourself. "I've been good long enough. It's time to indulge myself." Deprivation is in your head. You need a new way of looking at your new eating habits that encourages you to stay on track, not get off as soon as possible. I use Emotional Freedom Techniques with my clients to help them change their thinking. Without the changes between your ears, your body will change--back to its former size.

Are You Trying to Do It Alone?

How many times have you set a goal for yourself and not reached it? Probably many times. We humans, as well intentioned as we are, often fall short of our goals. On the other hand, how many times have you set a date with a friend to walk or play racquetball and stood them up? How many times have you joined a class or a team and then quit? How many times have you hired a professional to help you and never shown up for appointments? Probably not so many times. Why do we let ourselves down but not our support group?
It's hard to change especially when the new behavior is uncomfortable or just new! It's easy to slip back into old ways. But if you have a friend, a team, a professional or other support system, you're much more likely to follow through to reach your intended outcome. If you would like your own personal coach to help you reach your goals, small or large, contact me and let's chat!

Are You Ready?

I'm looking out over a sea of gray hair and wrinkled faces. Several hundred people over 50, the vast majority fit and slender. Am I in America? It's dinner at a week long bicycle tour. This group defies the national obesity statistics. They are riding a minimum of 50 miles a day for at least 6 days. (On the 7th day, some even choose to ride 100 miles.) Do you have to ride a bicycle long distances to be fit? Of course not. But have you found a way to move your body that is fun for you? Or second best, have you found a way to distract yourself while you're moving in way that you don't find fun? Or are you still sitting on the sidelines? When you're ready, I can help you reach your fitness goals. It takes patience, persistence, and a willingness to be imperfect. I've been in your shoes and I'm here to support you all the way. Are you ready?

Why do we keep thinking the new diet is the solution to a slender body?

It’s baffling. Women’s magazines still offer new diets! New diet books still get published! Each has a different combination of foods, schedules, emphasis. We keep getting suckered into thinking THIS diet will lead to weight loss.
And it does.
What we haven’t conquered is the maintenance part. The day after we reach our goal weight. Or more commonly, the day after we slip off the diet.
The only way to not put the lost weight back on is to change between our ears. New thoughts, new feelings. Unfortunately, it’s much harder to change those than our bodies. Give me a 10 pound weight to lift any day than ask me to stop feeling scared or to stop thinking, “I can't wait to get off this diet and eat normally again.” Besides, how do I change my thoughts and feelings?
The simple answer is Emotional Freedom Techniques™. This self-help tool stops debilitating feelings and limiting beliefs in their tracks. Check out my website (www.InsideOutWithEFT.com) and the official EFT site, www.emofree.com for more enticement!

My Journey to Weight Release Coaching with EFT

As a kid, I fantasized about the day when I could eat as many sweets as I wanted. Not the two cookies allowed at lunch time. Not the one scoop of ice cream my mother plopped into my bowl. No, as much as I wanted. That glorious day arrived when I was in high school with my own money and four wheels to take me to the land of endless sweets. You know, Dairy Queen. I loved that creamy, soft serve stuff. Who thought these things up? High school trips to DQ led to cafeteria free for alls in college. From college binges I moved to stealing food from the restaurants where I worked. Shame, guilt, and self-loathing were the back drop of my otherwise normal-looking life. I held jobs, went to graduate school, got married, had kids. Somewhere along the way I sought help with a support group and, after 7 years of trying, I finally kicked my addiction to sugar. I tried to help others as they too struggled with uncontrollable impulses and cravings, but it was hard. Besides encouragement and patience, what more could I do?

Enter Emotional Freedom Techniques, the amazingly effective tool for change I learned about in my Life Coaching training. Now, instead of just holding their hand, I could help people stop craving those M&Ms! In case you don't really get what that means, after using EFT, one just doesn't want them any more. Those pretty little M&Ms might even look repugnant. And it even happens, now and then, that the M&M lover never wants them again.

And not only is EFT amazing for cravings, but it can get rid of the anxiety that drives one to dream about M&Ms in the first place. Troubling feelings like anger, sadness, guilt and hurt can be eliminated with EFT. And even better, childhood trauma, the stuff of adult obesity, can be dealt with effectively and swiftly with EFT. With my guidance my clients can really move forward to living the life they truly want.

I have never felt so empowered to facilitate growth as I do now. I try to tone down my enthusiasm, not wanting to sound like Billy Graham, but it's hard! EFT is the next best thing to sliced bread, my mother would have said.
